The digital business banking service will hit 300+ staff by the end of 2019.

Tide is on a hiring spree both at its London headquarters and its technology and servicing hub in Sofia, Bulgaria.

CEO Oliver Prill, which I had a pleasure not only to meet, but work alongside in Kreditech, this morning announced the digital business current account has now hit 90,000 customers, adding 30,000 in the first half of 2019 and 5,000 in the last month alone.

“We have experienced an impressive level of growth over the course of 2019 and are delighted to have expanded the team so rapidly,”

he said.

In the second half of 2019 the company is planning to grow its Bulgarian office by 80%, and its London headcount by 25%.

“Since Tide’s inception we have had a highly talented team in Sofia, Bulgaria, working closely with the London team to build the mobile and web apps. We are dedicated to building our team in Sofia, hiring skilled customer service professionals, as well as tech and product talent,”

said Prill.

Currently Tide has 213 permanent employees spread across London and Sofia.

In February Tide was awarded £60m in partnership with ClearBank from the BCR Alternative Remedies Package, one of Tide’s public commitments was to reach 8% of the UK’s business banking market by the end of 2023.
